CY MODELS La-7//Evolution 160 radial

I bought this CY LA-7 last fall and finally started on it today. Got a wing done. Nice looking model, decent hardware, Well except for the gear. The stock gear doesn't really fit into the wing very far, you end up with the gear door 1/4" from the wing. But the LA-7 number 06 in those last pictures obviously has that as well. So I'm glad I read the thread and saw that. I'm not looking to to anything special with this. Just run it stock. Mostly I want to run my Moki 180 which I got a couple of years ago. Kind of quick and dirty. I have a Petrausch FW-190 from Vogelsang for this engine that I will spend serious time on.
I would like to know where you got your nice cowl louvers from? I saw louvers on "I fly Tailies" and enquired but haven't heard back yet. Anything from a hardware store would not be curved. The work you did is just awesome though. Brilliant to take this model as a base and really do it justice!

Yeah, bummer that. Luckily all my flying is done off asphalt so the forces tipping the model will be very light. If it doesn't sit on the gear with the balance point at 195mm I'll have to modify it though. Did you do the mod that the OP did with the gear moved into a scale location?

Thanks, that Tru Turn Spitfire spinner does look good. I saw a smaller Spitfire spinner from Top RC that looked right but too small. 5 1/2" is good size too but I'll probably be cutting the cowling back a bit then for scale fidelity and cooling. They are pricey though! And they are selling a part for using it with the Moki which will add even more. Unless I can find someone to machine a transition from 4mm to the Tru Turn bolt size. I think its 10/32. I like that the Tru Turn blade cutouts can be done for my prop no extra charge, it is a German SEP prop, wood, with a very wide blade. N8622t your cowl/spinner looks terrific!
