I received my 1:5 F16 some time back and have finally flown it. A non event really; just 2 clicks of up-trim was needed but everything worked as it should. Landing was straight forward too; I started way higher than I would consider for my 1:6 F16, expecting it to go straight past, but to my surprise it slowed down really well and landed and rolled out in front of me. It looks great in the air and felt solid in flight. My set up uses a Jeti DS16/24, CB200, no gyro and CG 25mm back from factory.
Turbine is a Merlin M200XBL which powers it extremely well. I'll try and get video on my next outing but for now here are some images...

Glad to here it went well and nice to finally see exactly which colours you went for, if you can call "grey" a colour ;-)

You have to go through BVM or GJC if you are in the 'States - if your in God's country then drop me a PM!

It breaks down to what I call a 'sausage', i.e. no stabs of fin. The stabs are plug-on with a slot which directly engages the servo ball so no aligning on assembly. Potentially it could break down via the split in the fuselage too.

Toby, they currently don't manufacture an ordinance pack for the Mirage F1 and yes - pick your scheme! Make sure it's from an actual F1 though as 'unusual alternatives' are not recommended by the factory.

I use flaperon as a rule; never been a big fan of taileron! I fly my JL G2 1:6 F16 in flaperon mode (for about 200 hundred flights) and personally find the control authority very good. Some people like taileron though...

Every video I saw of the 1/5 scale PNP BVM F-16 seems to have some "tail wagging" going on. Did you encounter that?

Only cross-wind, which is to be only expected, but otherwise straight and true! A gyro may help...

Only had a hand full of flights on mine, a couple by myself and two further flights by some well known and skilled pilots wanting to experience this new airframe first hand.
Every flight so far has been rock steady, saying that the weather conditions were very good on both outings with only a hint of crosswind.

I have never flown a "Bad" F16 and I have flown quite a few, they seem to be an inherently good aerodynamic shape?

Two things I have tought myself on F16,s is I do try not to play with the rudder to much on the flare wile landing and defiantly avoid turning too soon once on the ground until the speed bleeds right off. (good practice on most airframes)

Now if we were talking about my L39 or Alpha Jet they are another story, they defiantly get a wiggle on in turbulence :-)
"But" with Gyros becoming the norm rather than an exception now its all going to become a bit academic in any case?
I do not use Gyros myself in my jets just yet but as soon as the Jeti "Assist" becomes readily available I can see no down side to fitting them to everything I own. I certainly look forward to flying my Alpha with one as its a bit untidy on windy days!

Not sure as they keep everything very low key but the next is a large F18-C. I understand there is also an F104 at 3.5m and a large F4 somewhere down the line.

Very nice landing. I finally finish repairing mine from a runway incursion at GA jets last year. I taxied it yesterday and hope to find a paved runway on a good weekend to fly it again.
