Personally, I'd leave it alone. It looks good just the way it is. The only thing I might do would be to add a dark color on top of the nose as an anti-glare panel

Depending on the compressor system, you could find the air is full of moisture. This could be a real issue if there is water in the system as it can cause the wood to swell....
