I've bought tubing and changed my strut length with tubing from this site.

The biggest problem will probably be your rudder skills. At my field use of the rudder is a lost art. Flying a model to the ground is another area where most people are lacking. Guys where I fly...

Don't waste any money. Fly the airplane with the battery you have and find out first hand how long it will last. Unless you intend on flying all day long you should have no problem with the 1700mah...

Stew wants a set of mechanical retracts for a giant P=51 for $50. LOL He doesn't want to back off on the size of airplane. Some of you guys know where to get them I'm sure.

Seems your whole point is to put down the MFG's for high priced equipment. If you can build something better for less, have at it. I don't see how you could design and build landing gear yourself...

Do you have any pictures of where you added ribs to reinforce the gear mounts or can you describe what you did. I'm at the same stage in building mine and the info would be very helpful.

I've been in the hobby for more than 20 yrs and have used CA hinges over the past 8 or so. I'll agree that I wouldn't use just any CA hinge but never would I tell anyone not to use them at all. ...

CA hinges, properly installed are as good as any you might use. Your preference is just that....your preference. I've used CA hinges in up to 35% aircraft and so have many others with great success.

Speedy, What do you think of the Sierra replacement blocks for the Robart gear. With the addition fo the Sierra blocks are the Robart gear adequate. I have the Robarts with the plastic blocks but...
