Glad to here your wing mod held up. A lot easier to replace struts than repair wing. I also have Sierra gear and mine have bent in the same spot, which I'm wondering is just below the strut clamp and...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

HI Guys

What I have found over the years is that, the Krylon paints get very brittle over time and you get spiderweb cracks all over. Auto paints seem fairly brittle also. I use to use lacquar a...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

Hi Shannon

I have about 200 flights on mine and still going strong. I have the arc version. I love how it flies, but you have to modify it. The landing gear area and I put 1/4 ply gussets on the...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

Hi Royster

Two other things you should check. Make sure both wheels spin very freely. Putting a little grease on both wouldn't hurt. Also make sure when your landing gear struts collapse all the...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

Hi Royster

I glued my canopy with the canopy glue. Not sure how it works with monokote. I vote for putting the pilot in. My plane is 28lbs and flies great. On that big of plane the pilot...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

Hi Royster

I added everything in their accessory kit. All the little vents , nav lites, wing fences. I'm also using their wheels. Very scale!

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

Hi Royster

I have a Keleo exhaust system. The exhaust comes out in the correct location. Sorry I can't help you with the exhaust detail. Check out Keleo exhaust, I'm happy with it. I have pics...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

Hi Guys

I have about two hundred flights on my Mustang. The only mod I did was the wing mod which I designed myself. I have shared my drawings with a number of people. It has worked flawlessly....

Hi Spitfire

Biella Props are great. I'm not sure if that engine can turn that much prop.

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

Hi Padlock

In my opinion, the wing needs to be modified. Although some have not had problems. Not sure why. matbe the kind of field they fly from or how heavy the plane weighs. If you do it now...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

Proscalerc

I totally agree with Merlin Man. I don't have the inner gear doors either, and on a flyby you don't even notice. If you wanted to put them on, why not make them quickly removable so...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

Hi G-Pete

Just my 2 cents worth. I used Krylon and so did my brother. We found out that after about 3 three months the paint becomes very brittle. and by the next year we had surface cracks all...

Aerotech sells two types of wheels. One with the extended bronze bushing and one without. The one without fits Sierra gear and the one with should fit Robarts. The bushing goes next to...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

Mihelome

Here's my two cents. I had the same problem with mine, ground looping on landing. The two problems I had were even if the wheels spin freely, put a little grease on them so they don't...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

Hi Demosthenis

I used the DA 50. Great engine. I'm using two 6v nicads 2400mah for the radio and one 4.8v 1800mah for the engine. All are as forward as possible. I needed more nose weight than...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

I totally agree with the redundency in the model. Switchs and batteries fail the most, so as long as you have the room go for it. The increase in power is a benefit also. My servos for elev. rudder...

Warbirdflyer

Doomking is right. You can use y connectors for both flaps and ailerons. The flap servos need to have the posts pointing the same way and the ailerons need to be pointing...

The P-51 is one of the nicest flying planes you will have. I'm using the DA50. Not sure about the DL55. A friend has one and it has considerable vibration. Muffler wise I'm using the...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

Justin

Nice to see you today. If I remember correctly, the scale angle that Sierra is talking about is a different dihedral angle. Don't worry, just tell Darrel its a standard wing and he will...
