RE: nice picture

Bob, the G-45 requires hacking the cowl pretty much. The carb extends out one side and the muffler on the other. I built the plane for flying and not for scale so I wasn't too concerned about the...

RE: Long Term Update

Joe, I put extra wood in the weak areas as well as CF strips. The two times the gear pulled out was not because of a bad landing but 1st time, the lower gear oleo weld broke. This let the wheel and...

RE: First Flight!!!

Joe, I read the article by kent walters. I have read his writings before on Dynamic Scale Speed Similitude, interesting stuff. One of the problems is that the smaller planes require MORE speed to...

RE: First Flight!!!

While I appreciate your thoughts about speed I believe there are some misconsepctions regarding scale speed. Time, like the air we fly in cannot be scaled. No matter what size a plane is it travels...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly Thread

Steve, good luck with your maiden flight! If your plane flies like mine it will go just fine, no worries. If you have room at your field to make a long approach you won't need flaps but you can use...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly Thread

Steve, here is how I installed my Aerotech manifold. I painted all the stacks off the manifold.. then using PFM (Zap goo works equally well) I stuck the stacks to the manifold face. The entire...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly Thread

Steve, your tail wheel can indeed turn with the rudder. If you are using a separate servo make your ATV less for the tail wheel steering that the rudder ATV is. You don'n need much movement from the...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly Thread

Steve, I didn't put on the tail wheel doors. Didn't seem that important at the time. Since my wheel retracts foward like it should I think it would work ok. Aerotech was at the scale masters weekend...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly Thread

mfranke, I think a little of the 2.1 cylinder will stick out the bottom. I can't say for sure but the 1.8 in my yellow Spit just protrudes the bottom and the 2.1 is a little longer. Other than that,...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly Thread

I can tell you that I didn't use the Robart tail wheel on my TF Stang. Instead I used a B&D nose wheel unit. It works well and is cheaper and it can be made to retract in the proper direction which...
