bluemax:

the formula states "static" because your engine will unwind as oncoming air at high speed will presend less load on the engine compared to static. It also does not matter 1000 or 1056...

I have found following to be 90% accurate if used with reasonable diameter ( to compensate for drag ).

static rpm / 1000 x prop pitch = air speed in mph
