The 3W-55 will fit without cutting the cowl. My cowl is cut only to fit the scale Keleo P-51 exhaust. More expensive but it looks and sounds neat. That being said, if I had it to do over...

I don't know the history or training of the pilots and if they weren't landing in formation there was a huge mis judgement in the speed of the two planes to allow for safe separation.
