Between cutting logs to 24" length and splitting them, I have been scrounging for Saito 50 GK parts. This engine is all new save for the carb, cam box, prop drive and the rocker covers. I think it needs a name. I cleaned the old cam box, used surface prep and then painted it with Ceramic based paint, then baked at 250 for 2 hours. It looks good, I think. The crankshaft is a late, long, good one.
wow good job Dave!! I say call it "Spiffy" LOL

I truly love my Enya engines. I wish now that I had held on to all of them over the years.
The NIB Enya .61CX (ringed) lies awaiting its placement into a new ARF kit known as the Streamliner. That should make a great combination.

I was wondering about Ed this AM so I looked him up, He passed away on January 1, 2016, the above post may have been his last. He was also a Club Enya member. He was very knowledgeable. I was saddened to read his obituary.

Yep, Ed was a great guy. I had tried sending him PMs but got concerned when there was no response. I see somebody has picked up his old ham radio call sign. It was a fine call for CW (Morse Code)
Dave, here is a freshly rebuilt Saito 56. This one is running the vent oil recirculating velocity stack, 12-6 APC
Going to the field in a few minutes for an in the air break-in session.

Thanks Lonnie,
Great day at the field. The oil recirculating velocity stack worked out well. The plane stays very clean and absolutely no power loss. A win/win.
I made a similar stack for the .82 in the Toledo Special and will be flying that one in about 1/2 hour. Still need to put the cowl back on.
Shot a video this morning. Had to hold back the throttle a bit for fear it would pull out it's anchor!

Yep, the larger being the "60 two stroke / 120 four stroke " size. I had figured the FA-130T would work well. It was actually a struggle from start to finish. Dual elevator servos tail mounted and a custom brass tailwheel mount helped balance the Saito brick. The Dragonfly gear were long enough to utilize a 15 inch prop. The plane came out quite heavy for the 68 or so inch wing.
Obviously too much! The next Dragonlady found a better match with the FA-125 Saito .
The only other Dragonlady I have seen at our field had a Saito 150; too much imho but he was happy!
My one and only FA-130T
No mine

That was my plane. I completely agree that the 130 was too heavy and turned a great plane into a lead sled.
Unfortunately had to get rid of the plane, but still have the engine.

James,
Thank you for taking time to respond.
Yes, I'm with you, the super heavy FA-130T really made a very nice plane into a winged cow! While the engine really looked great, it sure wasted a good plane. It was so bad that I gave the engine away and never cared to even see another one
The same plane with a Saito 125 was a true joy to fly.
I just bought another Dragonlady, ready to cover version. This one will be getting a bit more power from a YS 1.15 and will be built as light as possible.
Before that, I will be making a set of drawings and converting the strip ailerons to barn-door.
LOL!
I sure hope the other member who seemed to think I had it all wrong about fhe FA-130T lump gets to read this!
Thanks again, the plane sure looks great, too bad how it cripples the plane.

Hi guys,
Looking for some ideas.
I have an eBay FA-60T (Twin) that I bought last spring and it had all sorts of issues. I have completely rebuilt it with all new bearings ( a lot of them) and other new parts.
The issue I have is the exhaust that came with it sucks. I have basically the nuts and one straight pipe that looks like it was a DYI. Not too bad. And the other is a piece of aluminum tubing that will not work.
If any of you recall the FA-60T has it's exhaust pointing a bit forward and thus the original exhaust tubes were 90 degrees.
The nuts appear to be 10mm OD where the threads are and about 8mm ID. I have been looking for some ideas on the net but cannot find any good examples. I cannot find the original pipes anywhere either.
So... Any ideas?
Thanks,
Evan
After assembly. Showing the one pipe with nut and presser line as well as an unused 10mm OD / 8MM ID nut that I need to use for the left side.
Lots of parts - Disassembled and cleaned before reassembling.

wait wait wait, your down on a Saito, shame shame shame! what's next ? are you going to buy a 2stroke ?
LOL hee heehee
Jim
Ha ha
Got two strokes to give away! Nobody even wants to pay the shipping,
That 130 is a beauty to look at but just plain too heavy for the power it doesn't make.
The 130 looks like it BELONGS in the Dragonlady,
But that wasn't enough

I must confess I do have a ST 3250 2 cycle in my stash. I understand there is a self-help group for that now.

Mr. Smith, I did similar not too long ago. I made up couplers on my lathe and used two Saito 30-s muffler. I also tried two Turbo Headers, though they are a bit of a pain as you must pull the cylinders partway out to screw them into place.
Thanks 1200sposterRider,
Looks like you used a SAI50163 Saito Engines Muffler Right Angle Manifold M10. I think that is probably the easiest way to go. Do you agree?
Thanks,
Evan
