I've done that a couple times...
First time I got "ho-hum" from an older guy...couldn't be less interested.
2nd time I had a young guy helping me look for a couple of metric bolts, and asking all sorts of questions, and now he's a member of our club!

I realize Buna-N is better but just regular O-rings seem to suffice in this one application as it doesn't matter if there is a little leakage. I have a Saito 80 that has had a regular O-ring in it for 6 years. Still seems OK?
The original O-ring between the intake manifold and the head is Viton. That would be even better than Buna-N?

Does anyone know of a wrap-around header for the Saito 82? Looking for something like the Hatori flex headers used on the YS engines.

All this talk of O-rings made me think of something...
I have a few 1:1 automotive carb. re-build kits that have parts left over...(the kits supply parts for several different model carbs )
There are numerous small O-rings there
I'll have to go check it out now...maybe I'll get lucky and find a few for my Perry's?

I am planning a Saito 180 and was wondering if these work well without Nitro ie 0% nitro ?

I run 10% nitro now and I am very happy with the performance, idle and the reliability[sm=thumbs_up.gif].

Most of the 150's are the same. The very first one had a very high compression but it would have an "A" stamped on top of the right mounting lug. The first engine's muffler has a bunch of little holes for the outlet.
The 150AAC 150S and 150H are all the same thing.
Saito originally called them the 150S. For some reason, Horizon refers to them as the 150H. All 150's are of AAC construction.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
OK, where do I sign up? I just ordered a Saito 100 so can I now officially claim to be a member of this righteous club or do I have to wait until I actually have it in my hot little hands?
It's going into a Mojo 60 that was also ordered today. It's going to be a winter project, so I'm actually looking forward to winter this year. If anyone has any hints or tips (I haven't read all 216 pages yet!) that I need to know about right away, I'd love to hear from you. I'm putting the finishing touches on an Extreme Flight Edge 540 and then I hope to get going on the Mojo.
I guess that's it for now.....I'm off to page one of this thread to begin my indoctrination.

Here is a question,
I just got my ceramic bearings for my Saito 82 ... I have been reading how fragile these are, and to not even think about tapping the crank in which makes this question come to mind. If they are so fragile, how did they possibly get the bearings in the races without damaging them ?
Which came first, the bearing or the races [sm=confused.gif]

some of us buy our rings from.... Frank Bowman. He manufactures repro and current piston rings for our modeling needs. He can make standard and Dykes type rings. If he doesn't have the ring you need in stock, you send the piston and cylinder and he will make it then. prices are around $9.50. His work is of the finest quality.
Frank can be reached at:

In regards to the above, I'd never thought of it before, but could Frank make a Dykes ring for my 120? (and maybe even my .82 and .56)? Is this feasable, and would there be any advantage to using a dykes ring over a regular ring in these engines?
Thanks,
Bob

Bob, since the ring is not right at the top edge of the piston but down a ways, it will require that you drill several small holes around the outer edge of the piston to allow pressurized gasses to get behind the ring and force it against the cylinder wall. A Dykes ring can be destroyed by one lean run.

You have to take the "Saito Oath" , and pass a test on this entire thread before you can be an official member of Club Saito

I became member #243 (I think). I just sent a gallon of nitro fuel to the other 242 members, and I was in!
I'm not sure, but there are about 12,000 members now.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
Let's see......that's gonna cost me 12,000 x about $15.....$180,000! Well, I guess I don't have any choice, do I.
So far, I've waded through the first 20 pages or so of this thread and have gleaned some great info. I'm specifically looking for break-in procedures for my soon-to-arrive 100. I'm sure the instructions will address this topic, but I want to get a head start on it. Does anyone have any links to on-line manual or something similar?
Thanks in advance,
Erik

Gentlemen,
I have a Saito 180 and my prop reamer is not the proper size. Do you know the size of the prop hole that it should be reamed out to?
Thanks for your help...
